Job description

A 2D Artist is responsible for producing illustrations and visual assets used in the development of video games, mobile apps, or digital media. They contribute to the game's aesthetic by designing characters, environments, icons, and interface elements. 2D Artists work closely with game designers, animators, and developers to bring ideas to life visually and maintain a cohesive style throughout the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and illustrating 2D characters, props, environments, and visual effects.
  • Creating concept art to guide 3D artists and animators.
  • Developing polished in-game assets such as sprites, backgrounds, and tilesets.
  • Ensuring models are game-ready, optimized for performance, and meet technical requirements
  • Creating UI/UX elements including buttons, icons, menus, and HUDs.
  • Working within the art direction and adapting to different styles as needed.
  • Collaborating with designers and developers to integrate assets seamlessly into the game.
  • Making iterative changes based on team feedback and gameplay testing.
  • Ensuring assets are properly optimized for performance across platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Game Art, Graphic Design, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong illustration and digital painting skills with a keen eye for color, shape, and composition
  • Proficiency in software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Clip Studio Paint, or Procreate.
  • Understanding of animation basics and sprite sheet creation (optional but beneficial).
  • Ability to create art in various styles (realistic, stylized, cartoon, pixel, etc.).
  • Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • A well-organized portfolio showcasing 2D game art and concept work.
